Yes, but Keengine is a stand-alone fangame that uses its own file formats etc. while CG is an interpreter that uses the original game files.

Commander Genius is CloneKeen, highly enhanced.
Know Duke Nukem 3D? Then, know EDuke32? Well, Commander Genius is the EDuke32 of Keens, basically. Play the Keen games on modern systems without emulation and all kind of cool enhancements.

That's exactly why I made a third, clear explanation. Anyway, CloneKeen was a Windows/Linux port of Keen 1-3 which Commander Genius is based off. EDuke32 is something similar for Duke3D, except you get all kinds of cool extras like 3D models, high resolutions and hires textures, etcetera.

that sounds good... i`ve played clonekeen a time ago, and i wonder if there some playable content in CG already....? i`d like to try

you can play through keen 1-3 in clonekeenplus (which by the way is called CommanderGenius for a while now) already.
Keen 4 is in development, but the bigger part of the enemies are already in there. you can check it out here: http://clonekeenplus.sourceforge.net/download.html
