| @scarlet: ah yes Hey-Oh, probably their best single of the last 2 albums and a rival to any of BTW as well. It has received the disdain of many 'hardcore chilis-heads' but they've decided to be a pop-friendly group in recent decades and they do a good job at it. I love the end of 'Snow' especially. So Hey-Oh is undoubtedly the best single from Stadium Arcadium in my opinion at least. There are quite a few other good album-tracks on that album, I like Turn It Again, 21st century and the quieter 'Hey'. But many of the tracks are weak, few are terrible though. Their latest album I'm With You is not really as good as Stadium Arcadium; a lot of effort went into it but it's not very cohesive to listen to. |

That's a really good song tulip... I really don't know enough early 60s soul... I do love Ben E King though and this reminds me a lot of his songs. Ha and nice flute, to continue our trend from a few posts back.
Here is one of Ben E King's best, you probably know it as it has about 5000 times more views than Marv Johnson's track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gQY9lt2-zw
Any more 1955-1965 era soul suggestions would be well appreciated! |

This is one of my absolute favourite songs at the moment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fz1E_0K_DQ0&feature=related
From their first album in 20 years, Something for Everybody. It was originally not going to make it onto the album as it wasn't popular among fans - it's one of their best songs in my opinion! (Yes, I know it's a bit tacky and all, but it works well.)
If you want it in some context, watch this interview with Rolling Stone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrLI3GOdfxo&feature=related
I find it weird that the main reason why the band stopped releasing albums was its new label collapsed. Oh, and the fact nobody understood them.
And for a laugh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrgA7OydKvo&feature=related _________________

Nothing groundbreaking, but quite well-executed. These guys are doing a good job pretending that it is still the 60s and 70s in 2012. |

The Wombats - This Modern Glitch.
Got it mostly for the song 'Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)' but the rest of it is damn brilliant, too.
May not be everyone's cup of tea. Got to see them on their US tour a couple weeks ago. Fucling brilliant. _________________ "I just drew this stupid little fish." -- Tom Hall |
