I feel that the butler bot should at least retain his little hat.

By the way, this is all turning out really well!

I agree - hat should stay. I always found the robots a bit cute, albeit incredibly annoying. It needs to keep its bulter-ish-ness.

Or just have the center body rotate around the wheels while they stay on the track

Sorry for the lack of updates. Work has been a little lay-off crazy lately. Still have my job, but a bunch of friends lost theirs :/ Game industry, woo!

Finished up the key cards and doors today.

In any case those doors look great. They open once you step into the light with a key they open up right?

This is really coming together! One thing I really like is how the point symbols on the exit light up when you've collected every point of that type. I do miss the impossible pogo trick though (hitting jump immediately after hitting pogo shoots you off at a good angle). Keep up the good work!

I'm more machine than man now... :dead

Added the butler functionality. I sort of added a hat, but also added a lil' mustache. Thought it made him look a little more butler-y.

Heh, that's actually really neat. I would argue it needs some kind of carrying capacity though - after all it IS a butler.

This looks unbelievably good, Ronnie!! I think it would be nitpicking to suggest any further modifications to the Butler. What you have there is sufficiently similar and sufficiently different from the Keen1 butler to fit with your style. Your game is very much a reimagining of Keen1 as if it had actually been produced for a mid 90s console by a major studio. Whereas other projects, such as Lava89's great Keen64, focus more on faithfully reproducing Keen1 in the 3d modality, which is also very worthwhile.

Hopefully it won't be long before I have a few € or £ to my name, and at that stage I would love to be able to lend a helping hand to a few great Keen projects such as yours. It does seem, though, that you can do rather a lot with the free version of your software!

Hey everyone! The last week or so I've been capturing some gameplay footage for my online portfolio. Since the company I work at has been laying off artists, it's kind of my #1 priority to get my resume and portfolio up to date. But here's a youtube of some Keen clips!

Looking good. If you get laid off I'll be surprised.

Is the yorp roll-up animation new, or have I just never seen it happen?

If you're laid off I won't be surprised. People in charge tend not to know squat.

But this is indeed beyond nifty.
