I've noticed that about 80% of footage in most YouTube Fail Compilations is from Russian Dashcam vids. They're probably not fails at all, just the results of ice/snow.
In Ireland, though, snow is fun. Although 3cm of snow is probably more disruptive to our incompetently run infrastructure than 2ft is in US/Ca/Rus/Scandinavia etc.

I heard somewhere that dashcams are very popular in Russia as a way of corroborating insurance claims. So yeah, more cams means more being captured, not necessarily more going on.Benvolio wrote:I've noticed that about 80% of footage in most YouTube Fail Compilations is from Russian Dashcam vids.

Yea, I saw that on television. I forgot exactly but it had something to do with the cars the USSR made and the transition to modern cars post-communism.Keening_Product wrote:I heard somewhere that dashcams are very popular in Russia as a way of corroborating insurance claims. Still, the idea of a dashcam isn't a bad one; if you get smashed you have the evidence, if you don't you can still make a driving vlog and make it interesting.......somehow.

The issue in Russia is dishonest police, as well as people trying to collect insurance by flinging themselves in front of cars. If you don't have video evidence of what happened you can get done over. http://www.wired.com/2013/02/russian-dash-cams/
What you really need, not what you think you ought to want.
