You're like a digger underground. The game is on a side-view and if you dig under a rock it will fall down on top of you and kill you.

Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. Electroman? Or was that something else? Doesn't sound very mine-y

Sounds like Digger, but he might be talking about Boulder Dash or some of its hundreds clones. As described you can't tell for sure.

I'd say Dangerous Dave or Crystal Caves.

Well, if by "side-view" he means side scroller, then it might be. However I don't remember digging in Dangerous Dave, neither rocks falling on your head. So it can't be. Crystal Caves is more likely as you're a miner and you're mining crystals. But falling rocks on top of you is the least way you can describe this game. In fact I don't think falling rocks (as you dig) exists in this game.

It sounds to me like Boulder Dash, or one of its clones like Supaplex or Heartlight PC. http://www.bd-fans.com/ has a huge list of different versions and clones and such.
