| Would I actually be willing to donate my time and money into purchasing the rights to Commander Keen? |
| No. Not really. I don't care enough. |

| I'd much rather not and continue to make mods so I can feel needed. |

Dissolvegirl didn't say getting the rights was impossible. She said that Zenimax is obstinantly refusing to sell the Keen rights. She didn't elaborate on their reasoning for keeping it, though. We'll need to ask them what their intentions are before getting any campaigning started, so we know what our goals are to get them to relinquish it. I'm guessing they just want it so they can make money from future re-releases of ID licensed games. Keen's been on steam, it could be published in other formats.
Even so, Commander Keen by itself doesn't strike me as a huge money maker these days, and would probably be left out of ID collection packs that are usually Quake and Doom oriented. _________________

Thanks MegaTrip!
I think the next step is to somehow get into contact with John Carmack. I think, he of all people, would know best why the rights are still locked up (in fact, I'm guessing that he probably knows even better than Tom Hall why the rights have been withheld). |

I don't think this is a bad idea by any means, but the problem is that we do not know if money would even get us the rights, as Ceilick mentioned. So raising money might become a sad waste of effort. I think our efforts would be put to the best use by collecting info about the rights.
That being said, does anyone have any ideas of how to get into contact with John Carmack, in a non-stalkerish way? (or anyone who would have knowledge about the Keen rights within id software, the company). |

Carmack is easily found on twitter, though I don't know if he responds to "fan-mail" as it were, or if he would even know of these kinds of legalities. _________________ Cerebral Cortex 314 - For All of your Commander Keen Needs.

i am not anti tuit but the chances of there being a new offical keen game are slim nevertheless we can hope and believe but it is unlikely that it will ever happen _________________ The internet's resident bad boy!
